All-on-6 and All-on-8 Dental Implants in Thailand

Full-arch dental implant restoration supported by multiple titanium posts

If you have looked into replacing a full arch of teeth, you have probably seen All-on-4 everywhere. But you may also have come across All-on-6 and All-on-8, and wondered whether more implants means a better, longer-lasting result, and whether Thailand is a sensible place to have it done.

This guide explains how the three approaches compare, when more implants is worth it, what you will actually pay in Bangkok, and how the trip works. For the full picture of our implant centre, see our dental implants in Bangkok treatment page.

All-on-4 vs All-on-6 vs All-on-8: what is the difference?

All three are "full-arch" solutions. That means one fixed bridge of teeth, screwed onto implants, replacing every tooth on the top or bottom jaw. They are not removable dentures. You do not take them out at night, and there are no adhesives.

The only real difference is how many titanium posts hold that bridge in place, and how the load is shared:

  • All-on-4 uses four implants per arch. The two front posts are placed straight into denser bone, and the two back posts are tilted to grab the most bone available. This angled placement is what often avoids bone grafting.
  • All-on-6 adds two more implants, usually in the middle of the arch. This spreads bite pressure more evenly and gives extra support where the jaw flexes most.
  • All-on-8 uses eight posts across the arch. It is the most supported option, built for the strongest bite forces and the longest, most demanding arches.

More implants is not automatically "better" for everyone. Four well-placed implants in healthy bone deliver excellent function and a success rate above 95%. The extra posts in All-on-6 and All-on-8 buy you redundancy and load-sharing, which matter most in specific situations. We cover those below in the candidacy section.

When All-on-6 or All-on-8 beats All-on-4

All-on-4 is the right call for a large share of patients, and it is our most popular full-arch option. There are clear cases, though, where adding implants genuinely improves the outcome:

  • You have a strong or grinding bite. Heavy chewers and people who clench or grind put more stress on the bridge. Spreading that load across six or eight posts reduces strain on each one.
  • Your arch is long or your jaw is large. A longer span of teeth flexes more. Extra mid-arch implants keep the bridge rigid and supported across its full length.
  • You want maximum redundancy. With more implants, the bridge can still be supported even in the rare event that one post does not integrate. This is reassuring for patients who travel for treatment and want the most robust result.
  • You have enough bone to use them. This is the key catch. More implants need more healthy bone. If you have lost significant bone, All-on-6 or All-on-8 may require grafting first, whereas All-on-4 is specifically designed to work around bone loss.

In short, the upgrade is about your bite and your bone, not just a bigger number. A specialist decides based on a 3D scan, never on a price list. If you are still comparing options, the broader overview in our dental implants in Thailand guide is a good place to start.

How much do full-arch implants cost in Bangkok?

This is where dental tourism in Thailand changes the maths. Full-arch implant treatment in Australia, the UK, North America and Singapore runs into the tens of thousands per arch. In Bangkok you keep the same premium implant brands and a fixed laboratory bridge, at a fraction of the price.

Our All-on-4 is priced at ฿350,000 to ฿500,000 per arch. All-on-6 and All-on-8 use more implants and more lab work, so we quote them individually once a specialist has reviewed your CT scan and bone. Full-mouth restoration (both arches) is also quoted per case rather than from a fixed list, because the right number of implants and brand depend entirely on your jaw.

Single-tooth implants at our centre start from $1,320 (฿45,000), which is useful as a reference point for how our pricing compares globally. For the full per-system price list and what each quote includes, see our dental implant cost in Thailand guide.

The implant brand also moves the price. We use premium systems and your specialist selects the right one for your case:

Implant systemPrice per implant
Neobiotech (Korea)฿45,000 ($1,320)
Neodent (Brazil, Straumann Group)฿49,000 ($1,440)
Straumann SLA (Switzerland)฿80,000 ($2,350)
Straumann SLA Active (Switzerland)฿85,000 ($2,500)

Every treatment includes a full consultation and 3D CT scan, and we provide a written 1-year warranty against fractures with free replacement, except in cases of improper use. How long does treatment take, and how many trips?

Full-arch implants are not a single-appointment fix, but the timeline is more comfortable than many patients expect. Most full-arch cases involve two trips to Bangkok across roughly 3 to 6 months.

Trip one (around 5 to 10 days). Your specialist removes any remaining teeth that need extracting, places the implants under local anaesthesia, and in most cases fits a fixed temporary bridge. This is "immediate load", and it means you fly home with teeth in place rather than gums healing under a denture. The surgery itself usually takes a couple of hours per arch, and most patients are back to normal activities within a day or two.

Healing at home (3 to 6 months). This is osseointegration, the period when the titanium posts fuse with your jawbone. You wear the temporary bridge and eat softer foods while the implants lock in. Nothing needs to happen in the clinic during this stretch, so you heal at home.

Trip two (around 5 to 7 days). Once the implants have integrated, your final bridge is fitted. It is custom-made in the lab to match your face and bite, then screwed firmly into place. You leave with your permanent set of teeth.

If you want the general sequence laid out appointment by appointment, our step-by-step guide to the implant procedure covers each stage in more detail.

Are you a candidate? The bone question

The single biggest factor in choosing between four, six or eight implants is bone. There is no way around a proper assessment, which is why every full-arch plan at our clinic starts with a 3D CT scan to measure bone height, width and density.

A few honest points worth knowing before you travel:

  • All-on-4 exists precisely for bone loss. Its tilted back implants reach denser bone and frequently avoid grafting. If you have lost a lot of bone, four implants may be the realistic option.
  • More implants need more bone. All-on-6 and especially All-on-8 ask for enough healthy bone to anchor every post. Where bone is short, grafting may be needed first, which adds time to the overall timeline.
  • Active gum disease and untreated decay come first. These are stabilised before implants are placed, so any clean-up work is planned into your treatment from the start.
  • General health matters. Conditions that slow healing, and heavy smoking, can affect how well implants integrate. Your specialist will discuss this during planning.

The practical takeaway: do not pick a number off a webpage. Send us your situation and any recent scans, and a specialist will tell you which approach your bone actually supports. Implant placement at our centre is carried out by specialists, with crowns and bridges produced in our on-site laboratory.

Why have full-arch implants in Bangkok?

Beyond the price, the appeal of treating in Bangkok is that you get a complete, planned pathway rather than a rushed procedure. Premium implant systems, specialist surgeons, an on-site lab for fast turnaround on your bridge, and a written warranty all sit behind the lower cost. The savings of 60 to 75% against home prices are large enough that even with flights and a comfortable stay, full-arch treatment in Thailand usually costs far less than a single arch at home. If you are still deciding where to travel, our comparison of the best country for dental implants weighs Thailand against Turkey, Hungary, Mexico and India.

The two-trip structure also fits well with a longer stay. Trip one gets you teeth quickly, then you recover at home, and trip two can be timed around a relaxed visit once healing is complete.

Ready to find out which option suits you?

The right answer between All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-8 depends on your bite and your bone, and the only way to know is a proper scan and a specialist opinion. To explore the full treatment, costs and implant systems, visit our dental implants in Bangkok page, or book a free consultation and we will review your case and send you a clear, personalised quote.
