I am Dr. Nan, a prosthodontist, which means replacing missing teeth is literally my board specialty. Every week I meet patients who were told "you need a denture" and walked out looking for anything else. This guide covers the real alternatives, with our actual Bangkok prices, so you can decide instead of just refusing.
Why so many people say no to traditional dentures
The objections I hear are fair, and most of them are physical, not vanity:
- ❌ They move. A lower denture especially, since the tongue and cheeks push it around all day.
- ❌ Adhesive becomes a daily routine. Cream in the morning, cleaning residue at night.
- ❌ An upper denture covers the palate, which dulls taste and feels bulky for many people.
- ❌ Bone loss continues underneath. Without tooth roots or implants, the jawbone slowly shrinks, so the fit worsens over the years.
- ❌ They need relining or replacing, typically every 5 to 8 years as the ridge changes.
To be fair to the humble denture, it is also the least expensive way to replace a full arch. At our clinic a complete denture is 15,000 THB per arch, and we cover what conventional dentures cost in Thailand separately. For some patients it genuinely remains the right call, and I will tell you exactly who below.
But if "removable" is the part you refuse, here are your four real options.
The 4 real alternatives to dentures
Each option below solves the denture problem differently. For each one I will tell you who it suits, its honest limits, our Bangkok price, and how long you need to be here.

1. Fixed dental bridges (for 1-3 missing teeth in a row)
A bridge anchors a run of replacement teeth onto the natural teeth on either side of the gap. It is cemented in place. You cannot remove it, and nothing sits on your palate.
- ✅ Best for: 1 to 3 missing teeth in a row, with healthy teeth on both sides of the gap
- ✅ The only fixed option that involves no surgery at all
- ✅ Fast: 7 days and 2 visits, so one trip to Bangkok covers it
- ❌ The neighbouring teeth must be shaped to carry the bridge
- ❌ Cannot replace a full arch, and needs solid anchor teeth to work
Our pricing: an E-max bridge is 16,000 THB per unit and a zirconia bridge is 17,500 THB per unit, so a typical 3-unit zirconia bridge is 52,500 THB, around $1,615. Our on-site CAD/CAM lab mills the bridge here, which is how we hold the 7-day timeline. Bridges carry our 1-year warranty.
2. Implant-supported dentures (snap-in overdentures)
This is the denture that stops moving. We place 2 to 4 implants in the jaw, and a denture clips onto them. It snaps in firmly, does not slide, and needs no adhesive, but you still take it out to clean it.
- ✅ Best for: full-arch patients who want stability without the cost of All-on-4
- ✅ No slipping, no adhesive, and the implants help preserve the bone around them
- ✅ Far more chewing confidence than a conventional denture
- ❌ Still removable for daily cleaning, so it is stabilised, not fixed
- ❌ Requires enough bone volume to place the implants
Pricing depends on how many implants your bone can take and the prosthesis design, so it is quoted after your scan and consultation. As a reference point, a single implant with a crown at our clinic runs $1,380 to 2,615. Plan on 2 trips: one to place the implants, then the final denture after 3 to 6 months of healing.
Our guide to implant-supported dentures in Thailand walks through the whole process.
3. All-on-4 full-arch implants (the fixed full-arch option)
If your real requirement is "I never want to take anything out", this is the answer. Four implants per arch carry a full set of fixed teeth. You brush them in your mouth, like natural teeth.
- ✅ Best for: a full arch of missing or failing teeth, with the budget to match
- ✅ Fixed permanently, closest feel to natural teeth of any option here
- ✅ The tilted rear implants often work around bone loss without grafting, confirmed at your scan
- ❌ The biggest investment on this page, and it is surgery
- ❌ Needs 2 trips to Bangkok, spaced 3 to 6 months apart
Our pricing: 350,000 to 500,000 THB per arch, roughly $10,770 to 15,385, and a full mouth on both arches runs $21,540 to 30,770.
In Australia and the US, figures commonly quoted for a single arch sit around $25,000 to 35,000, which is why so many full-arch patients fly here. The complete breakdown lives in our guide to full mouth dental implants in Thailand.
4. Flexible partial dentures (the comfort upgrade, not a fixed option)
Let me be straight with you on this one, because plenty of pages are not. A flexible partial is made from a light nylon-type material with no metal clasps. It is more comfortable and less visible than a conventional partial. It is still a removable denture.
- ✅ Best for: replacing a few teeth with maximum comfort and no visible metal
- ✅ Lighter, thinner and gentler on the gums than a metal-base partial
- ✅ No surgery, about 1 week in Bangkok
- ❌ Removable, full stop. It is an alternative to a metal partial, not to implants
- ❌ The flexible material is hard to repair or reline if it breaks or the ridge changes
We offer flexible dentures at the clinic, priced after your consultation since the design depends on which teeth are missing. For reference, our conventional partials run 3,000 THB in acrylic and 8,000 THB with a metal base. Our page on flexible dentures in Thailand covers the material honestly, including its limits.
Denture alternatives compared: Bangkok costs, time and comfort
Here is every option side by side, with the conventional denture at the bottom as the baseline.
| Option | Fixed or removable | Bangkok price | Time in Bangkok | Comfort / stability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed bridge (3-unit zirconia) | Fixed | 52,500 THB (~$1,615) | 7 days, 2 visits | Feels like natural teeth |
| Implant-supported denture | Removable, clips onto implants | Quoted after your scan | 2 trips, 3-6 months apart | No slipping, no adhesive |
| All-on-4 (per arch) | Fixed | 350,000-500,000 THB ($10,770-15,385) | 2 trips, 3-6 months apart | Closest to natural teeth |
| Flexible partial denture | Removable | Quoted after consultation | About 1 week | Lighter, no metal clasps |
| Conventional complete denture | Removable | 15,000 THB per arch | About 1 week | Baseline |
Crowns, veneers and bridges carry a 1-year warranty, and the first consultation is free, so comparing options for your own mouth costs nothing.
Which alternative is right for you?
Three variables decide this: how many teeth you are missing, your budget, and your bone. Find your situation below.

- Missing 1-3 adjacent teeth → a fixed bridge, done in a single 7-day trip. If the neighbouring teeth are perfectly intact, single implants avoid shaping them, at $1,380 to 2,615 per tooth with the crown.
- Several missing teeth, scattered around the mouth → single implants where the bone allows, or a flexible partial on a tighter budget. Our guide lets you compare every tooth replacement option for mixed cases like this.
- Full arch, workable budget, reasonable bone → All-on-4. Fixed, permanent, and the closest thing to getting your natural teeth back.
- Full arch, tighter budget → an implant-supported overdenture on 2-4 implants gives you most of the stability for less. If implants are out of budget entirely, a well-made conventional denture at 15,000 THB per arch beats no treatment.
- Significant bone loss → often still solvable. All-on-4 uses tilted implants placed into the bone you still have, which frequently avoids grafting. I will not promise "no bone graft" to anyone before a CT scan, because only the scan can say.
Who these alternatives are NOT for (honest answers)
Part of my job is telling people what not to buy. These are the cases where I pump the brakes:
- ❌ Heavy smokers and uncontrolled diabetes. Both significantly raise implant failure risk. We address these first, or choose a non-implant option, rather than placing implants likely to fail.
- ❌ Severe bone loss where grafting is not possible or not wanted. If the scan shows too little bone even for tilted implants, a conventional or flexible denture is the honest recommendation.
- ❌ A very tight budget. A well-made 15,000 THB denture from a prosthodontist will serve you better than a cut-price implant done badly. I would rather fit you a good denture than a bad implant.
- ❌ Anyone expecting a flexible denture to behave like implants. It will not. It is a comfort upgrade over a metal partial, it stays removable, and it is difficult to repair.
If a clinic anywhere pushes you straight to the most expensive option without a scan-based reason, ask why. The scan should lead, not the sales pitch.
Coming to Bangkok for treatment: what the trip looks like
About 70% of our patients fly in from abroad, mostly Australia, the UK, Canada and the US, so this format is our normal week. Here is the logistics per option:
- Fixed bridge or flexible partial: one trip of about 7 days. Consultation and preparation early in the week, fitting before you fly home. Our on-site CAD/CAM lab means no waiting on an external lab.
- Implant-supported denture or All-on-4: two trips. The first places the implants, then you heal at home for 3 to 6 months while we follow up virtually on WhatsApp. The second trip fits your final teeth.
The first consultation at our Siam Square clinic is free, including the assessment that tells you which of these four options your mouth actually supports. You can also start remotely: send photos, and we will tell you which options look realistic before you book anything.
You have more choices than the denture you were offered
There is a fixed or stabilised alternative to dentures at almost every budget: a bridge from 16,000 THB per unit for small gaps, an overdenture that ends the slipping, and All-on-4 at 350,000 to 500,000 THB per arch for a fully fixed smile.
The right one comes down to how many teeth you are missing, your budget and your bone volume. Bangkok pricing is what puts the fixed options within reach for patients quoted several times more at home.
If you have been told "denture" and want to know what your other options really are, my team and I will map them against your scan, including the cheaper ones. Start with our dentures and tooth replacement options in Bangkok, or come straight in for your free assessment.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to dentures?
For a full arch, All-on-4 implants: fixed, permanent, and the closest feel to natural teeth. For 1-3 missing teeth in a row, a fixed bridge. "Best" depends on how many teeth you are missing, your budget and your bone, which is what the decision guide above walks through. What is the cheapest alternative to dentures and implants?
A flexible partial denture, priced after consultation, with our conventional partials at 3,000 to 8,000 THB as a reference. Be aware it is still removable. The cheapest fixed option is a dental bridge, from 16,000 THB per unit at our clinic. Are implant-supported dentures better than regular dentures?
For stability, yes. They clip onto 2-4 implants, so there is no slipping and no adhesive, and the implants help preserve jawbone. They cost more and need two trips to Bangkok. We quote the exact price after your scan. Can I get a fixed alternative if I have bone loss?
Often yes. All-on-4 places tilted implants into the bone you still have, which frequently avoids grafting. Sometimes a graft is still needed, and occasionally implants are not viable. Only a CT scan can answer this for your jaw, so we never promise it in advance. How many implants do I need to replace all my teeth?
Not one per tooth. A fixed All-on-4 arch uses 4 implants, and a snap-in overdenture uses 2 to 4. A full mouth on All-on-4 means 8 implants across both arches. How much do denture alternatives cost in Bangkok?
A 3-unit zirconia bridge is 52,500 THB, and All-on-4 runs 350,000 to 500,000 THB per arch. Implant-supported and flexible dentures are quoted after your scan or consultation, and a conventional complete denture is 15,000 THB per arch. Was this article helpful?
